Victoria Canal – Music with No Boundaries
Victoria Canal is with us on today’s show. She is currently on tour with Michael Franti.
Victoria was born in without her right forearm due to amniotic band syndrome. Noone or nothing can stop Victoria. Her sheer will and determination will prove that her musical talent as a songwriter, singer and keyboardist will carry her to the top and stay there for years to come.
Victoria has lived all around the world, including Dubai, Shanghai, Tokyo, and Amsterdam. She’s a mix of Cuban and American descent but refers to herself as Spanish-American because Spain is where she was raised most of her life.
She began playing piano as early as 6 years old and now, at 20 she’s a musical force to be reckoned with.
She’s been on tour with Michael Franti and was generous to give us a live interview. So we’re on the bus chatting it up.
I just love her philosophy about life:
“In life what I found to be crucial is to have direction and it doesn’t matter how many times you change direction just as long as you’re not floating.
So if you know you’re going somewhere and if you don’t know where you’re going, you’re not going to go anywhere at all, but if you decide where to go, even if it takes you unexpected ways and you end up somewhere else, at least you went somewhere!”
Today Victoria discusses:
-
How she started taking piano lessons at age 6 with her grandma.
-
How she has lived in over 100 places around the globe.
-
How she decided to go to school online rather than a brick and mortar school.
-
Manifestation and the reality of it.
-
Her method of writing her songs and music.
